I am a transdisciplinary artist, musician, and practice led researcher sometimes working under the moniker DUBAIS. My practice fuses DIY punk, experimental pop, and conceptual art to explore themes of embodied post-diaspora and cultural displacement. I have a PhD in Critical and Creative Practice from the University of Sussex. My dissertation, 37 Bands: Punk Practice and Post-Diaspora, examined transience, performance practices, and fractured belonging. I am interested in the conversation between punk and marginal spaces as a mechanism for survival. A large part of my practice is starting bands. I’ve been in over 40 bands that I can remember.
